Luck is the most wished for and also the most cursed phenomenon. People feel happiness, agony, gratitude, jealousy and all other emotions because of their luck. It is a crucial component of success in life. Qualities like determination, talent, hard work, perseverance, patience etc. are necessary but not sufficient for success because, whether 0.1% or 99.9%, luck has its role in it too. Some believe luck to be a random allocation of happiness and grief among people while others claim it to be a refurbished form of a person’s karma that comes back to give reward for previous actions.
What’s the point? Why you’ve been subjected to reading about a seemingly known and obvious topic? That’s because sometimes amidst the ups and downs of life, you get lucky too and you fail to realize it. Of course, loving parents, caring friends, food on the plate and a roof over the head are some of those things that should make you feel lucky and inculcate a general sense of gratitude within you, but I’m not here to make you compare yourself to the underprivileged ones. There is a more subtle form that luck takes and changes your life forever and I’m here to make you realize and appreciate that.
To put it in simple words, you’re lucky if you have had a Sandeep bhaiya in your life. For those who don’t know, Sandeep bhaiya is a character from the very much loved TVF Aspirants series. He gained a lot of popularity because of his dialogues, one of which is (won’t be a spoiler) –
[Translation: Sacrificing parents, love and friends for our dreams is not worth it. Not worth it at all]
Now, his character isn’t important because he got a realization that we loved and resonated with. Rather, it is important because of his timing. Notice how, after a gap of six years, out of nowhere he shows up at the protagonist Abhilash’s door and shares with him a piece of his heart after which, Abhilash took a decision that altered the rest of his life and for good. That – that one right person at the exact right time is what I believe personifies luck. That person could be anyone, starting from your family and friends to any stranger on street. He could be a fellow classmate who you had thought you would never talk to or even a fellow passenger on a bus speaking on the call. He could intentionally advise you when you need it the most or could just speak his mind for his own sake and unknowingly leave behind a life-changing clue for you.
Now what’s lucky about that, you may ask. Actually, it has everything to do with luck because not everyone gets to live that one life-changing moment. Not even once. Even Sandeep bhaiya himself said that he did not have anybody to tell him what he told Abhilash. After getting our EUREKA moment, we tend to cherish what we did afterwards, but fail to acknowledge the person that was the water to our Eureka. So sit back, reflect on your life and revisit all the milestones of your journey till now and try to identify all those Sandeeps that had an ever-lasting impact on your life. Just like a twice-a-day meal and a roof over the head, the entry of such a person at the right moment even once is also a privilege and you’re nothing but lucky if you’ve had one.
Importance of time and that one chance is well known to everyone. Thankyou for making us realizing the importance of such person, whom we failed to recognize and admire.
One of the finest piece of work from your pen..ahem Keyboard
